Ruth is Articulation's lead Executive Speech Coach, Trainer and Faciliator.
Ruth Milligan's career could be characterized as a communication quilt, with many layers, patterns and expressions of experience and accomplishment.
In her early career she built an impressive portfolio of experience for then-Ohio Governor George V. Voinovich, implementing Ohio's Americorps program and ultimately acting as the Chief of Staff and speechwriter for the First Lady by the age of 25. Her political career also included being a press secretary on the US Presidential Campaign of Sen. Robert Dole.
She then spent several years working for the United Way of Central Ohio as a leadership development director, but desired to return to her passion and primary area of college study: public speaking and communication strategy. She then built a successful Public Relations practice inside a growing entrepreneurial marketing agency, and 3 years later, branched out on her own in 2002.
For 7 years she ran Milligan Communications as a traditional PR and Marketing practice and in 2009, narrowed that practice to only coaching and training inside executive communication, structured thought, storytelling and public speaking, operating as articulation inc. She now spends the majority of her time coaching executive 1:1 for communication and facilitating trainings for small groups.
She is one of the original curators for any TEDx event (the license program for TED), having selected and chosen over 200 speakers who have taken the TEDxColumbus stage since 2009. She has authored a class on how to be a TEDx speaker coach, the only one of its kind, designed to support speaker coaches around the world assure their speakers reach their highest potential. She is often tapped as an expert in the TED-style of speaking.
In January, 2009, she became the Chapter Chair / Faciliator for the Women President's Organization, Columbus Chapter 2. She graduated from Miami University in 1990 with a B.A. in Speech Communication, and currently lives in Columbus, her hometown, with her husband, Dave Daiber, and their two school-aged children, Maggie and Joseph.
Ryan Miller Keynote Lunch Speaker
Ryan Miller came to Columbus from Allen Park, MI. He played football for The Ohio State University from 1993-1996, where he started at outside linebacker and helped the team capture a victory in the 1997 Rose Bowl. The two-time Iron-Man Award winner was also selected as the co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior for the Buckeyes.
After graduating with an Economics degree from The Ohio State University, Ryan began a career in sports journalism with "Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan" (WBNS).
From 1997 to 2000, he co-hosted a morning drive talk show called Miller and Mark in the Morning. During that same time period, he teamed up with former Buckeye and NFL great Jim Lachey for the weekly Ohio Sports Insider program, which aired on the Ohio News Network.
Ryan then joined WBNS 10TV in September 2000 as a Sports Reporter. He took his passion for sports to the weekly magazine show, Wall to Wall Sports, as an anchor.
In 2002, Ryan won two Sports Emmys for Best Sports Reporter and Best Feature Story while getting accepted to graduate school at The Ohio State University.
In June, 2005, Ryan earned his Masters degree from the Fisher College of Business (OSU) and founded m2 marketing, LLC with former OSU Women's Basketball Player Megan McCabe. Ryan is involved in many charities in central Ohio. He is the co-founder of The 2nd & 7 Foundation – whose mission is to "Tackle Illiteracy." Miller and former Buckeye teammates Mike Vrabel and Luke Fickell started the foundation in 1999, and have read and donated over 200,000 books the past 18 years with help from The Ohio State University Department of Athletics and over 100 other schools throughout the country. In 2008, The 2nd & 7 Foundation began writing their own series of children's books as their lead characters, The Hog Mollies, provide inspirational themes that children can take away while reading these fun books. Each year, The 2nd & 7 Foundation writes and publishes a new book. Lori Kaiser is a chief executive, corporate leader, and business strategist with a proven track record in assessing risk and creating solutions for Fortune 500 Company C-Level Executives and Boards. As CEO of Kaiser Consulting an international professional services firm specializing in accounting, finance and IT consulting with 50 finance and accounting professionals, Ms. Kaiser provides clients' value-based services that allow firms to navigate transitions and successfully execute critical projects. She is considered a trusted advisor to executive management on issues of risk identification and mitigation, mergers, acquisitions and integrations. She combines strong business judgment, financial acumen, global perspective and a team approach to implement innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
She has founded and led the firm to 15 years of successive revenue growth achieving multi-million dollar revenues. With the foresight to capitalized upon a niche market the firm partners finance and accounting professionals with Fortune 500 companies, through a unique, flexible staffing business model, that provides high level consulting and business solutions. Ms. Kaiser established and continues to grow long-term client relationships by providing accomplished financial, technical and bilingual talent with staffing consistency on client engagements.
She honed her ability to analyze the key drivers of a business and the essential elements required to meet client goals while working with companies representing a variety of industries including manufacturing, automotive, alternative energy, construction, finance and retail. Selected clients include Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., Cardinal Health, Worthington Industries, Bath & Body Works, and the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
Prior to Kaiser Consulting, she was the Chief Financial Officer at Lowestpremium.com, an online insurance aggregator enabling users to search for lowest auto insurance rates. Ms. Kaiser led all financial aspects of building the operations including business model projections, product and project feasibility determination and presentations to the Board of Directors. The startup successfully closed three rounds of venture capital funding.
Earlier she served as Corporate Controller for Nationwide Communications, Inc. the media subsidiary of the Nationwide Insurance Company that owned and operated radio and television stations. Ms. Kaiser directed financial reporting for the 17-radio station group with annual revenues of $200M while managing and training 15 direct reports. She also led the financial analysis and due diligence procedures for all acquisitions and divestitures and subsequently managed the integration of newly acquired companies in the areas finance, accounting, operational compliance and benefits.
Ms. Kaiser began her career in the Audit practice at KPMG, LLP in Columbus. She was promoted through the level of Senior Manager and selected as a National Instructor of firm training programs, member of the Quality Performance Review Team and the Local Office Training Manager.
Ms. Kaiser is dedicated creating strong employee engagement and mentoring leaders in her organization. In 2015 and 2016 Kaiser Consulting was named a Columbus "Best Places to Work". She was also recognized with the Progressive Organization Award from Smart Business Magazine in 2016, the Women You Should Know Honoree by Women for Economic Leadership & Development (WELD) in 2015, Olentangy Area Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 and named a Rising Star CEO by Columbus CEO Magazine in 2013.
Her commitment to her profession, community and achieving good outcomes includes Board service for a variety of organizations. Ms. Kaiser recently completed a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Women Business Owners and as its Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee. She is a member of the Advisory Board of both the Center for Business Leadership and the Accounting Department at Miami University. For the Women's Fund of Central Ohio's Board of Directors she serves as the Treasurer as well as a member of the Executive, Finance and Audit Committees. As a member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, she serves on its Small Business Council. She is a former member of the Board Godman Guild & Camp Mary Orton where she was a member of the both the Development and Finance Committees. Ms. Kaiser earned an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago and received a BS from Miami University graduating cum laude. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Charter Global Management Accountant. In addition, she is an adjunct professor in the MBA Program at Ohio State University Fischer School of Business. Ms. Kaiser and her husband have two adult children and live in greater Columbus, Ohio.

Catherine Lang-Cline is the President and Co-Founder of Portfolio Creative. Portfolio Creative specializes in recruiting and staffing for all areas of marketing and advertising with roles such as, but not limited to, copywriters, graphic designers, web designers, fashion designers, traffic coordinators, and account managers. These roles can be projects, temp, temp-to-hire, or direct hire based on the needs of the client.
In 2005, Catherine founded Portfolio Creative with Kristen Harris after years of working in the creative industry. Since they both served as client and talent, they were able to create a business model that makes sense to both client and talent when finding the right match. Their unique creative staffing company now fills a need in Columbus and nationwide.
Catherine is a Certified Staffing Professional with the American Staffing Association. She is also an active Board member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Columbus Chamber Small Business Council, President of the NAWBO Columbus Chapter Board, on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Columbus Arts Council, a member of the American Staffing Association and the Women Presidents' Organization. Mindi Wells is an attorney with financial and organizational leadership experience who uses her knowledge of business, HR and the law to provide employers with practical advice to prevent employment law problems from happening. Her professional career spans over two decades and includes leadership roles in human resources, financial administration and operations management. Being raised on the business/HR side of the house, Mindi is uniquely qualified to provide practical legal advice and resources that take into account the sensitivities, customers, team members, operations, and vision of an organization.
An HR practitioner at heart, Mindi counsels employers on strategies to minimize workplace disputes, and reduce discrimination, harassment, workers' compensation claims, and FMLA and ADA issues. She also assists employers on compliance with policies, state and federal employment, labor and benefits laws, and regulations including ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, and workers' compensation. In addition, Mindi also has experience in labor relations, public records, and education law including Title IX.
Mindi earned both her juris doctorate degree and her bachelor's degree in economics from Ohio Northern University, and completed her coursework for her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Bowling Green State University with a focus on ethics in leadership. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio, State of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is also a certified civil rights investigator by the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) and holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute. In addition, she is trained in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Mindi was the Deputy Administrative Director/Chief Operating Officer for the Supreme Court of Ohio where she was also tapped during her tenure there to serve as Interim Administrative Director and Interim Director of Human Resources. She has nearly fifteen years' experience in college administration, serving as the first Director of Human Resources at Ohio Northern University and then as Assistant Dean for Administration and Student Services in the College of Law where she was responsible for providing leadership to financial, operational, and administrative support functions.
Mindi's other passion is teaching. She currently teaches Employment Law for Capital University business students and Ohio Dominican healthcare students, and has taught Workplace Justice for Capital MBA students, Education Law for Bowling Green State University, and a variety of business and management courses in the Human Resources program at Columbus State Community College and Rhodes State College. In addition to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, Mindi is a frequent presenter and trainer on employment law, HR topics, Title IX, policy development, and risk management.
